Tosney Team: Day 1

Good day:

Travel and arrival into London went well. Joe noted his amazement at how effective the prayers for safe travels impact and should never be taken lightly. We and our families thank you; be diligent as our return travel is impending later this week. We are staying in the Highbury community, and this is a first for the HSBC teams to my knowledge. Locale and accommodations are very agreeable. We spent the majority of Day 1 prayer walking and taking in Camden and Highbury. Our training prepared us, but seeing it in person as always opened your eyes to the great needs of the people for Jesus. As previously noted, no trip to Camden Market is complete without Banana-Nuttela Crepes, Johnnie and Joe approve this message! The need to stay awake to midnight to offset the jet lag is noted by our team lead, but the desire for sleep was compelling. In the end, we lasted as long as we could and concluded Day 1 with prayers that God would bless us and lead us onward in Day 2.

Thursday

Today we were able to find many new places and meet many new friends.  We first helped out Kings Cross coffee give away and then we were able to find some major new developments in Kings Cross where they expect 50,000 residences in the next 5 years!  We were able to pray for many needs and to speak the Gospel to many people.

Please be in prayer though for Linda and for Christian, we hope to be able to reconnect with them tomorrow and to build on a relationship that has been started this week.  Pray also for our last day that God will direct our paths and show us the people and places we can share His story of redemption and reconciliation with for His namesake.

Thank you for your continued prayers.  Please enjoy some of our pictures from last night at a prayer meeting with Kings Cross to some of our work from today.

Tuesday & Wednesday

We have had a fantastic past two days.  God is really allowing us to learn more about the people and the culture in the Camden borough as well as build stronger relationships with partners and new partners in the area.

Please enjoy the following pictures and movie and pray for our last two days.  Please pray for open doors to communicate the Gospel, to form new relationships, and to see the unseen for our time in prayer.

Cheerio!

Monday...art, a boat, fire drill and the Gospel

Our day started bright and early with our group devotion time where we prepared our hearts and minds for the day.  We divided into our groups, with each walking a different area of the borough of Camden.  We prayed for God to open doors of opportunity to engage people in conversation.  All three groups were able to have meaningful conversations that led to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

While walking into a art gallery one group met Jessica.  She was raised going to church, but had not been in many years, was given the truth of the Gospel and shared that it was the first time in her life that Christianity finally made sense.  Praise God that the truth was unveiled to her!

One group had been praying for the opportunity to talk to college students outside a local university.  In previous walks our group was never allowed in the building and common areas however, today, when this group walked by, a fire drill went off and forced all the students outside.  We were able to have many meaningful conversations with people of various ages.

Another group was walking along the canal in Camden Town and struck up a conversation with a man who they learned had fallen on hard times and was living on his brother's boat.  They were able to bring him a hot breakfast, some money and a Bible with hopes that he'll join us to worship at King's Cross Baptist Church Wednesday night.

We ended the day with a nice dinner in the heart of London and then began a prayer walk around St. Paul's Cathedral, across Millennium Bridge, to City Hall, up to Tower Bridge and then to London Tower.  It was a lovely night, with beautiful sights, but we were reminded that beauty is not in things that are made by man, but that are made by God.

It has been an amazing gift to see how God directs our steps to areas in need of intercessory  prayer and to people who are needing to hear the Good News.

We appreciate your commitment to pray for our group as we continue to reach the lost of London.  Please continue to pray for our energy, focus, dependency on God, and for open doors to share the gospel and connect people to Kings Cross.

Enjoy some pictures of the day...
