Student Trip Day 5

Free day in the city! Our students enjoyed a tour of the Westminster Abbey, walking through TriFalgar Square, exploring the Tower of London, a boat ride down the Thames, an unexpected shopping trip at Harrod's, and of course some took on the famous London Eye! But with all of that I wanted to share a story of one of several divine encounters from today:
So tonight a small group of us headed to dinner and because of a few unexpected (to us) turns and stops in our journey we found ourselves at a little diner at what is called the Euston station. The place was packed so we had to split 4 and 2. Laurie Barker and I sat at the counter while our students sat in a booth. Within a few minute two men asked where in the states we were from. Let's just say then next hour was packed with non-stop conversation about culture, faith, and life. We discussed what our students were doing in London and how we looked to learn more about teenagers here. They shared about the melting pot that is London. They took us through the multi-ethnicities that have moved in through the decades. They spoke of tolerance and social justice as reasons for the co-existence. They shared their beef with the "version" of Christians they have been exposed to in life as well.
We also discussed the prayer walks we were doing nightly and even gave him my prayer booklet to read. They were both fascinated. They don't believe in Jesus and have a relationship with him. Paul is a filmmaker who works for the Discovery channel and has projects with Fox and NBC. Alister is a local politician in one of the eastern Burroughs. Tonight we planted a seed for what may one day offer them True Hope!
Did I mention that this happened at then end of a day that included multiple distractions, and a rain/hail/snow shower. However, without the days distractions and frustrations we wouldn't have been in the right place to speak the truth of the gospel to Paul and Alister! We serve a faithful God who places us in the right places (even using frustrating circumstances) to make his name famous.
Prayer request.
Please pray for our last two days to engage and build relationships with students.
Please pray for intentionality on our mission during the day.
Please pray for focus in our steps, as the city has become more familiar we do not want to lose sight of our walking surroundings and traffic.
Please pray for continued health so we can finish strong despite our growing fatigue.
Enjoy some pics of our day..
